Tim Culpin - Partner
Tim qualified as a criminal defence solicitor in 2008 after undertaking his training contract with John Holden & Jamieson Fitzpatrick Solicitors. Prior to qualifying as a criminal lawyer he completed his Law degree and Legal Practice Course at DeMontfort University, Leicester.
Tim is a qualified member of the police station accreditation scheme as well as the criminal defence duty solicitor scheme in Bradford. He defends people accused of a wide variety of offences both at the police station, Magistrates’ and Crown Court, ranging from defending motoring offences and public order offences, to offences of murder and rape.
As proceeds of crime act proceedings have become more frequent, Tim has developed a niche in this area representing defendants whom the Crown suggest have benefitted from hundreds of thousands of pounds as a result of their criminal conduct. He also deals with enforcement and variation of confiscation orders.

R-v-YI (Bradford Crown Court)
Historic rape of a woman. The defendant was linked to the offence by DNA evidence. The defendant was found not guilty.
R-v-MB (Bradford Crown Court)
Operating a waste transfer station other than in accordance with an environmental permit, contrary to the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
R-v-DS & Others (Leeds Crown Court)
Conspiracy to defraud the Royal Bank of Scotland and Royal Sun Alliance, resulting in a total loss of £344,786.50.
Proceeds of Crime Act followed. The Crown alleged the defendant benefitted from his criminal conduct to the value of £ 22,206.43.
R-v-MA (Bradford Crown Court)
The defendant was accused of allegedly committing murder as part of a joint enterprise, (common purpose). He was found not guilty.
Crown-v-MA
Possession with intent to supply class A drugs to the value of £375,000.00. The defendant was arrested a number of years later in Belgium after travelling/absconding throughout Europe. The defendant was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court and in his absence was sentenced to 5 years custody in the Belgium Courts for committing similar offences. Extradition proceedings continue in the Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings followed the defendants hearing at Leeds Crown Court.

Stuart joined McGuire & Partners Law Firm Limited in April 2014 as a partner in the Corporate and Commercial team.He has a wide range of experience in many areas of law, having previously practised as a criminal lawyer, an employment lawyer and a commercial property lawyer. He has specialized in corporate transactional work, intellectual property, commercial contract and international trade work for the last 15 years.
Stuart has a practical approach to his role and looks for answers rather than questions. He consistently works with clients in order to understand their business and place himself in the best position to give focused advice as and when necessary.
